As you may (or may not) know, at the age of 23 I had a lumpectomy. Luckily my 18mm "lump" was just a fatty mass... nothing major, nothing to worry about EXCEPT I did worry atleast until I got the results. Now my only "scar" is the 1inch scar beside my left breast; HOWEVER some ladies (& men - yes, men can get this too) are not as lucky. They face a long battle that carries with it many scars... this battle is sometimes deadly... it's the battle of Breast Cancer.
After my encounter, though, we decided that the least we could do was support Foundations that "fund" Breast Cancer research... that help find a cure for this awful disease... which led us to the Susan G Komen Foundation ( http://www.komenncalabama.org/ ). Since we live in Central Alabama where every fall the Susan G Komen Race For The Cure is held we have been able to participate in this event for the last couple of years, with this year being no exception.
We are asked to raise donations for this wonderful cause... so here's where your help is needed: If you are interested in making a donation, you will see on the right hand side of the blog - there's a link to make a donation to our team. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. We do understand that due to this poor economic situation right now that some of you might not be in a situation to give & that's fine, we totally understand... we would however appreciate your prayers for us as we "race," for the ladies (& men) fighting this horrible battle and for their families & friends.
Thanks & we hope you have a blessed day!
Love ~ The F's
P.S. Don't forget to do your monthly self exam & if you are 40 or older be sure to get your mammogram yearly - Remind someone you love it might just save their life!!
